ABOUT US

Inner Sleeve Logo 1 MC.png

INNER SLEEVE MAGAZINE is an independent arts and culture publication curating quarterly collections of visual art, digital media, music, writing, and accounts of community activism from around the world. By primarily featuring BIPOC and LGBTQI2A+ artists and creators, Inner Sleeve serves as a platform for the amplification of voices, visions and perspectives made marginal by the mainstream, white, cisheteropatriarchal culture.

Through music, visual art, digital media, reviews, essays, poetry and more,
Inner Sleeve brings together a global network of artists and creatives by providing an inspiring, unified and multidisciplinary community space.

Our ultimate goal is twofold—

  • to inspire, nurture and inform our readers around the world with the thoughtful content generously provided by our contributors

    &

  • to create a sense of community and connection among everyone involved with this project—from our readers and contributors
    to our volunteers and donors

OUR BACKSTORY

The inception of Inner Sleeve Magazine was spurred by the George Floyd Rebellion of 2020 as an act of solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives/Black Lives Matter.
The Inner Sleeve volunteer staff is a group of artists, musicians and activists who decided to come together to provide a platform for our community at a time when independent media and community-driven spaces have become even more fundamentally important to our collective well-being. As pre-established artists with access to skills, resources, time, ideas and capacity, the Inner Sleeve volunteers are committed to re-investing in their communities near and far through our collectivized means and passion. In light of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the limitations to gathering “IRL” that we all now face, Inner Sleeve strives to provide not only a platform but a real sense of community to its readers, contributors and supporters.

100% of the revenue generated through the sale and operation of this magazine currently goes into our production and circulation costs.
We are operated entirely by volunteers and are committed to keeping our prices as low as possible for the sake of accessibility,
We try to provide as much content for free as we are able to while keeping our financial realities in mind.

Supporting Inner Sleeve means directly helping us cultivate an environment of shared inspiration among artists and creators whose voices may not otherwise be heard.
Inner Sleeve is more than a magazine—it is a space for the nurturance of our communities, our spirits and our drive as artists.
As we continue to grow, we hope that Inner Sleeve will live up to the goal of being a source of support,
amplification and inspiration for those of us who face hurdles in so many other areas of our lives.
